African Union Commission
The AUC is responsible for harmonising and providing leadership in the continent’s economic and social development, as well as physical integration. The Commission ensures the alignment of the PIDA priority projects and programmes with regional and continental strategies and policy frameworks; reviews strategic plans, studies and reports prepared by the NEPAD Agency; and makes appropriate recommendations to the Council for Infrastructure Development (CID) through an independent advisory group.
The main functions of the CID are to review selected projects and to ensure coherence and harmonisation across all sectors; to arbitrate and approve priority projects; and to provide strategic guidance on resource mobilisation and technical co-operation.
